The Paradox of Tolerance / Expressive Type Book
This typography project explores how type can be expressed and manipulated to visually communicate an idea. Charles Bukowski's letter responding to the censorship of his novel at a library serves as the backbone of my book. A chapter from this novel functions as the additional text; obstructed at first, but increasingly exposed to the reader as they flip through, forcing them to face the controversial language of Bukowski's novel. Censorship does a disservice to society as it stifles freedom of expression, and limits our scope of the world. All perspectives deserve a platform, regardless of personal distaste. With a broadened sense of awareness, we can uncover the truth.
